Zacchaeus
There was a rich man named Zacchaeus. He was a chief tax collector. Tax collectors were disliked because they worked for the Romans, and they often charged people too much and put money in their own pockets. He was a man short of stature and he wanted to see Jesus but could not because of the crowd. However, Zacchaeus was a resourceful man and he climbed a tree. When Jesus passed under the tree, He told Zacchaeus that He wanted to visit his house!

The crowd was not pleased when they saw Jesus go and visit Zacchaeus’ house. Why did Jesus go and visit a sinner’s house? But his life changed dramatically after Jesus’ visit. This is what happened:

And Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, "Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor. And if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I restore it fourfold." And Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house, since he also is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost."

Luke 19:8-10
Jesus came for all sorts of people including the unpopular and the unloved. And when people decided to follow him, their lives really changed! Zacchaeus lost his love for money and repented from being corrupt. Jesus had not come to change the government like many people hoped, but to change people’s hearts.
