Good morning to everyone. Grace and peace be with you.

Yesterday I received a message/request from my daughter about the possibility of Grammy time with the littles…for a week. I explained that I would speak to her dad and see if he was up to it. After all, I am going to be at work. As anticipated, Papi wanted some play time too.

In just the first two hours, I was educated. I had forgotten what car rides were like. In the time that it took to pick them up from the midway point to the drive home, I was informed that wombats have square poop. That scorpions are nocturnal. Also that scorpions only use their poison-filled stinger on their tail if they are in real danger; otherwise, they use their claws. Not to be outdone with my education, the other child explained that smoke is bad for you and you need to put a wet cloth over your nose and mouth, smoke rises so you need to be close to the floor, and if you are trapped in your bedroom … use your blanket to keep the smoke out of your room by placing it under the door.

How I told that story is almost precisely how it came about … no introduction to the topic … just facts. It was up to me to keep up. Haha.

Of those topics, I was internally pleased to know that only one of them escaped my education. I did not know that wombats had square poop. Not sure how I missed that, it is important to know. Thanks to my little, I am now well versed.

How many things in life do we know about but do not give much consideration to because they do not apply at the time? Or it is just random facts. Let’s think about the Word for a minute. How many facts do we know but do not apply because …. Insert your own reason/excuse.

We talk about faith, about faith in this chaotic and judgmental world, but what about faith like Noah? Though the bible does not come right out and say it took this many years, it does estimate that it took between 75 to100 years (according to Google Scholars)
So let’s look at how that would be seen in today’s world. Use your own thoughts to imagine the rhetoric that you would encounter. Even if it were just 75 to 100 days … how much backlash? It does not take much to completely envision the scene for Noah. However, he did not let the world sway him and the mission that God had given him. A single act of obedience changed the world.

Yesterday our sermon was on Joseph. Not Mary. Not Jesus. But Joseph. Odd? At first it looks like that, however, not when you look at it like this. He was going to quietly divorce Mary when she told him she was with child and that the Spirit of God was the dad. How would you react if your fiancé came to you and said, “Hey, by the way, yesterday I was a virgin, but today God gave me a son to carry, and we need to name him Emanuel.” You have to give Joseph props; he was going to handle it quietly so that Mary was not disrespected … but … that night … an angel came to him and convinced him that God really was the father of the child she was carrying. And through his single act of obedience, in marrying and raising Jesus … the world was changed.

As Christians, we know the stories, but do we really think about the stories? Noah. David. Moses. Solomon. Daniel. Esther. Single acts of obedience that changed the world. What single act can you do for God that will change the world? It does not have to be as extravagant as those mentioned but just think about if you purposefully walked as He desires, the many changes that you make in a day. The calculations are endless.

Be blessed today my friends.
