Good morning to everyone. Grace and peace be with you.

The week of Christmas in the post office is supposed to be a mix of “are we done yet” and “I can see the light at the end of the tunnel”, with a mix of ‘are you serious’ changes or enlightenments that have been in place for a while that no one told you about. I am not sure if that is this week or if this week is just a series of “whose bright idea was this” and (for me) ‘it's almost over’.

I have done 22 Christmas seasons. I have been blessed to be in offices where an old soul work ethic has been the atmosphere. With the exception of one season, I have been at a kind of peace with how the season went. Many in the post office have had a much different encounter.

This season has been infused with counterfeit shipping labels, scavenged tracking numbers, and a lot of misunderstanding of how that happens. No answer is a good one when you, the customer, are looking for that special Christmas gift that never arrived and we cannot find it. It is now too late to replace it with an equivalent replacement because it is not something that is sold in stores. This brings on a disappointment in your season of Christmas.

Those of us who work in this service are not pleased to tell you that the tracking number that you have and shows it goes to your address, has been snagged by a hacker and placed on another package which was properly delivered. It honestly sounds like an excuse, unfortunately … this year it has been a VERY real problem.

When things that go wrong, so close to Christmas, it really puts a damper on your holiday celebration. This is how the enemy switches our focus from the true meaning to the world meaning. We at the post office deliver, every day, the packages that are given to us from the plant. We have no way of checking each package, at our delivery level, to make sure that the numbers have not been poached. However, because we are the only faces that are seen, we are the easy target. Frustration and disappointment ring out and then emotions lash out. This is the enemy full at work.

Satan knows that this is the season of gifts and love beyond measure. He knows that this is when it all began … the beginning of his end. He knows that if he can stir up enough dust and mire, that the season of Love will not move forward. He does not tire of such antics; he thrives on them. He loves chaos. He loves division. He loves watching people fight. He loves disappointments. He loves our pain. He loves chaos and hate. The more that he can issue out … the happier he his.

On behalf of my office and the USPS in general, I apologize for any lost packages that the enemy has been able to divert to other places. I apologize that when we try to explain a real problem, which is being investigated and dealt with by our inspectors, has caused a ripple in your celebrations. It is our intention to be the Santa that comes daily and helps you provide a wonderful Christmas. Please do not let those who live for chaos cause your celebration to be less than wonderful. Remember that the true meaning of Christmas is Love. Love of a Savior who was born to bring us eternal life … not a package from …. (insert wherever you purchased it from).

Be blessed today my friends.
