Good morning to everyone. Grace and peace be with you.

When the kids were little, they would cry when they had to go home with mom and dad. We did not do anything special, and their parents are not monsters; it was just that Grammy’s house was Grammy’s house. I can relate. I remember going to my Grandma’s house a lot when I was little. Gradually, over time, those drama exits from my home have slowed; almost stopped. Out of the blue last night, my granddaughter told me that she was ready to go home, and right now. That was a first. It kind of threw me for a loop, but also showed me that the bond between her and her mom has grown exponentially. This makes my heart sing.

Tonight, we will round out our week together with a baking spree. Tomorrow is the family Christmas, and we get to bring the sweets. A pineapple upside-down cake and a snickerdoodle-apple bake. Both are delicious. It will be the perfect ending to a perfect week. She did tell me last night that she missed when she was little and we baked all the time. That tells me that when my retirement is official…there will be brownies afoot and cookies galore in my house … the memories that we started must continue. Happy memories are what keep us moving forward in time of need.

I do not have a lot of memories of my grandma, but the ones that I have are priceless heirlooms. I found an old picture of her, my brother, and me. If I remember correctly, it was taken when we stayed with her after mom had her car wreck. At least that is when I think it was according to stories told to me. Using the AI tool, I brought that memory to life. Priceless heirloom.

God gives us opportunities to make memories for a purpose. Those memories are fuel used to propel us forward in times of need and sorrow. They remind us of where we came from, how far we have gone, and that nothing can stop us from our destination. Memories are high-octane fuel.

Do not discount the power of a memory to help you get through a difficult time. Sometimes you just need the right motivation to keep your focus on the prize. The memories that you hold are just such motivation. Today, while you recover from yesterday’s memory madness, revisit memories of old and store these new ones away in your memory trunk. Relish in the smiles and laughter. Embrace the love shared. Hold on to them as you march forward into the unknown of tomorrow.

Be blessed today my friends.
