Journey from darkness to hopeful dawn

The eyes of my mind look and see
shattered shards like broken glass,
swirling, piercing, pressing in.

The back of my head pounds
with sounds no ear can hear.
In the darkness, voices shout,
straining to be free.
I cannot make out what they say,
yet they never fully fade away.

Like fragments of a shattered mirror
they pierce my thoughts—
seen but not explained,
felt but never named.

Sometimes it is a war
between light and dark.
The darkness reaches to swallow
every thought, to hide my pain.

But I will not let the darkness
steal my soul or rob my joy again.

I turn my thoughts from dark to light,
to quiet the voices telling me
I am not right.

Some days the battle rages hard,
like it does today.
Other days, I find Your love
lighting the way.

I need Your love.
I need Your light
to silence the voices
that try to steal my joy.

They rise with pain
to drown out Your voice,
but You alone are my strength,
my song.

Only in You do I find the strength
to stand, to carry on.

Few understand the road I walk.
They say You’re not real,
just something in my mind.

But without Your love
to light my way,
I am lost, alone,
and the voices grow louder,
proclaiming the lie
that I am not enough,
not worth the time.

Your love, Lord,
keeps me grounded,
eases the pain.
So I will choose You—
regardless of what others say.

My truth is found
in Your love and Your light.
And You give me the strength
to win this fight.
