You might unfollow me for this but…
One of the most annoying things I hear in the Christian community is I go to a really good church…
And yet theres no evidence of fruit.
I hear people brag about their pastor… but casually joke about sex and pornography.
I hear people say how bomb the choir is but cuss somebody out every single day….
I hear people loudly professing Christianity but their life looks no different than someone who never cracked open a Bible.
And before somebody gets offended this is not about perfection
This is about fruit….
Because Jesus didnt say… You will know them by their church building.
He didnt say… You will know them by their A and B worship selections.
He didnt say… You will know them by their social media bio.
He said you will know them by their fruit….
Fruit… Fruit that shows up in how you love people when nobody is watching.
Fruit shows up in how you handle temptation when it costs you something.
Fruit shows up in how you talk, how you forgive, how you repent, how you change.
Church attendance is nice but it isn’t fruit.
Quoting scripture is nice… but it is not fruit….
Serving on a ministry team is nice… but 🏽it’s 🏽 not 🏽fruit.
Those are activities.
Fruit is evidence that something is actually growing down on the inside.
And here is an uncomfortable truth a good church doesnt automatically make you fruitful.
A great pastor cannot disciple your private life.
A powerful worship experience cannot replace obedience.
At some point we have to stop confusing proximity to God with transformation by God.
Because being around the Word is not the same as being shaped by it.
And I get it some people might be following me looking for a God is love fairytale version of of Jesus, but He is also the Lion of Judah….
He is also jealous…
He is also both Mercy and judge…
So if your Christianity only shows up on Sundays
but disappears everywhere else it might be time to stop bragging about the church you attend and start examining the life you live.
Because real faith leaves fingerprints.
It changes habits.
It interrupts comfort.
It produces fruit.
And if there’s no fruit… there should be no bragging…
With love
