Confirmation of Salvation

Scripture Reference: ”Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Matthew 16:16 (ESV)

Reflection: This is just one of the 6-10 times Jesus was described as the Son of God. There was Martha in (John11:27) Andrew in (John 1:41) and the Samaritan woman (John 4:25-26). The title “Christ” appears over 500 times in the New Testament — but many of these are theological statements by authors, not narrative claims by characters. And then of course there is God the Father at the baptism of Jesus. “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” (Mark 1:11). When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, ‘Who do people say the Son of Man is?’” (Matthew 16:13) This pivotal question set the stage for the turning point in the ministry of Jesus.

Challenge: Peter boldly declares that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of the living God. Our confession isn’t borrowed from societies opinion or from our families opinion—it’s a personal revelation that reshapes our identity and purpose. Ask yourself today; Where in your life is Jesus inviting you to move from knowing about Him to confessing who He truly is—not just with words, but with trust, obedience, and daily choices?

Prayer: Jesus, You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God. I confess this with my whole heart. Reveal to me the places where my life needs to align more fully with this truth. Strengthen my faith so that my actions, decisions, and relationships reflect who You truly are. Lead me deeper into the kind of trust that transforms me from the inside out. Amen.
