WHY I NEED JESUS
Every human being, regardless of age, nation, background, or achievement, shares a common need the need for Jesus Christ. We need Him not simply as an addition to life, but as the very source, sustainer, and Savior of our lives. Today, we will look at why we need Jesus, the advantages of having Him, and the consequences of rejecting Him, all from a clear biblical foundation.

1. I Need Jesus Because I Am a Sinner
The Bible says “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).
Sin separates us from God and brings spiritual death (Romans 6:23). No amount of morality, religion, or good works can save us.
Only Jesus saves.
“For there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12
2. I Need Jesus Because He Is the Only Way to God
Jesus Himself made a bold, exclusive, and undeniable claim:
“I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me.”
John 14:6
Jesus does not just show the way He IS the way.
He does not just teach the truth He IS the truth.
He does not just give life He IS life.

3. I Need Jesus Because He Gives Purpose and Meaning
Many people live but have no purpose. Jesus said:
“I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”
John 10:10
Jesus fills the void that money, friends, success, and achievements cannot fill.

4. I Need Jesus Because He Gives Peace the World Cannot Give
Life is full of storms—fear, sickness, disappointment, betrayal. Jesus offers something the world cannot produce:
“My peace I give to you; not as the world gives…”
John 14:27
In Christ, we find stability in a world that is unstable.

5. I Need Jesus Because Eternity Depends on Him
Life on earth is temporary. Eternity is forever. Jesus determines where we will spend it:
“He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; but he who does not believe… shall not see life.”
John 3:36
II. THE ADVANTAGES OF HAVING JESUS
When you have Jesus, you have everything you truly need.
1. Salvation and Forgiveness of Sins
“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins…”
Ephesians 1:7
Your past is washed away and your future secured.
2. A New Identity and New Life
“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation…”
—2 Corinthians 5:17
Jesus breaks addictions, heals wounds, restores dignity, and gives new beginnings.
3. The Indwelling of the Holy Spirit
The Spirit gives power, guidance, comfort, wisdom, and strength (John 14:16–17).
4. Divine Protection and Preservation
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.”
—Psalm 23:1
In Christ, your life is under divine supervision.
5. Hope for the Future
Jesus gives hope when life feels dark.
“Christ in you, the hope of glory.”
Colossians 1:27
6. Eternal Life in Heaven
Jesus said:
“I go to prepare a place for you.”
John 14:2
With Jesus, eternity is guaranteed and glorious.
III. THE DISADVANTAGES OF NOT HAVING JESUS
Rejecting or ignoring Jesus has eternal and earthly consequences.

1. No Forgiveness of Sin
Without Jesus, a person remains guilty before God (John 3:18).
Sin carries a penalty that only Jesus’ blood can remove.

2. A Life Without True Peace
People may have money, fame, or pleasure, yet still be empty, restless, and troubled within.
“There is no peace… for the wicked.” Isaiah 48:22

3. A Life Without Purpose
Without Jesus, people live but do not know why they live.

4. Vulnerability to Satan’s Influence Those outside Christ are spiritually unprotected.
“The whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one.”
1 John 5:19

5. Eternal Separation from God
This is the greatest tragedy.
“These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord…”
2 Thessalonians 1:9
Hell was not created for man, but without Jesus, man chooses separation from God.

CONCLUSION

Why do I need Jesus?
Because I am a sinner,
because He is the only way,
because He gives peace, purpose, hope,
because He saves my soul,
and because eternity depends on Him.
With Jesus, we gain everything.
Without Jesus, we lose everything.
