The Perfect Gift
Christmas is a day that young and old look forward to, eagerly anticipating the long tradition of opening presents! Each beautifully wrapped box represents hours of thought, preparation, and shopping, all with the hope that it would be just the perfect gift for their loved one. Even though the act of gift-giving is motivated by love, it is often not received in the way we would hope. For the day after Christmas, looking at the long lines at the “Return Center” tells the story that for many, it was the wrong gift! God gave us the ultimate gift when He gave His only son to come to this earth as a tiny baby, and grow up sinless and without fault, but yet to die on a cross for our sins, so that we could have eternal life with Him. There is no greater gift than the gift of “salvation!” But there is a gift we can give, and it’s such a perfect gift - that it is all that God desires - and that gift is “our hearts.” But He won’t force us, He wants us to willingly give it to Him. And once we give our hearts to Jesus, one way to let Him know how much we love and appreciate Him is to “tell him” how much we love Him. God loves to hear our praises, our gratitude, and our acknowledgement that He is our Lord and Savior, and King of the Universe. He also loves for us to talk with Him, telling Him our needs, wants, and desires. Don’t forget to pray in His name and claim His promises when you pray. Won’t you give God the perfect gift today? Text: Luke 19:10, John 6:40, Psalm 18:3
