THE ADVENT TRUTH
That awkward moment when someone says, “I don’t need a Sabbath because Jesus is my Sabbath.”

Let’s be clear: Jesus is not the Sabbath.
Jesus is the Lord of the Sabbath (Matthew 12:8).
You can’t be the Lord of something and be the something at the same time.

*Jesus is not a day.

*Jesus is not the 4th commandment.

*Jesus did not replace what He Himself created and blessed.

John 1:1–3 – All things were made by Him.

Genesis 2:2–3 – One of the things He made was a 24-hour day called the seventh-day Sabbath, which He blessed, sanctified, and set apart before sin, before Jews, before the Old Covenant.
He didn’t become the Sabbath. He made it.

That’s like saying:
“Jesus is my food, so I don’t need to eat.”
“Jesus is my marriage, so I don’t need a spouse.”
“Jesus is my Bible, so I don’t need Scripture.”

Translation: “I want a spiritual excuse so I don’t have to obey.”

The Sabbath is not a symbol of rest, it is a commandment of God (Exodus 20:8–11). The weekly Sabbath is a memorial of creation, not a metaphor. It was “made for man” (Mark 2:27)—not just Jews, not just Old Testament people, not just legalists. MAN. Humanity. Everyone.

Hebrews 4 does not teach “Jesus is the Sabbath.” It teaches that real faith does not replace obedience—it empowers it. Verse 9 literally says:

“There remains therefore a Sabbath-keeping (Greek: sabbatismos) for the people of God.”

If Jesus “fulfilled” the Sabbath by making it unnecessary, then He also fulfilled:
• “Thou shalt not kill”
• “Thou shalt not steal”
• “Thou shalt not commit adultery”
But nobody teaches that—because it’s nonsense.

There is zero Bible verse that says the Sabbath became “Jesus,” or that it disappeared, or that it moved to Sunday, or that it became “resting in Christ.” That doctrine came from man, not Scripture.

You don’t honor Jesus by erasing what He wrote with His own finger.

Obedience is not legalism.
Disobedience is not faith.
And redefining commandments doesn’t make you spiritual—it just makes you rebellious.
