Celebrate with Prayer and Praise
The last day of the year is a good time to evaluate your relationship with God. Did the past twelve months draw you closer to Him, or were there challenges, hardships, and pain that pushed you further away? This New Year's Eve, instead of celebrating in the usual traditional way, why not make this evening a time to spend in praise and worship for all the many blessings God has given you? Celebrate His sinless life. Celebrate His amazing love for you! Celebrate His incredible gift of salvation. And don’t forget to celebrate that He is a “risen” Savior! Pray for wisdom to avoid the pitfalls and snares of temptation. Pray that no matter what the devil throws at you, you’ll praise Him, just like Job when he lost everything, yet stayed faithful and continue to praise God. The Bible says in Job 1:21, “The Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.” Talk to God as you would your Best Friend, expressing your heart's desire: “Precious Lord, use me to be a blessing to others that will bring honor and glory to You. I ask for discernment to hear Your voice and know Your will. Forgive me for forgetting my need for You, and for all the times I failed You. Father, forgive me for letting pride and selfishness separate me from You. Keep Your words of truth planted firmly in my heart and let me be a beacon of Your light to shine for others so they may find their way to You. Please refresh my heart, mind, and soul with a deeper desire to be close to You, to please You, and to love You more. Cover me with Your blessings Lord and give me favor in Your sight so that every plan You have for me will be accomplished. Oh precious Savior, when I am weak, hold me close and keep me faithful to my commitment to You. In Your precious name I pray, Amen.” Text: Psalm 63:3-4, Psalm 9:1, Psalm 42:11, Psalm 145:3
