Good morning to everyone. Grace and Peace are with you.
They say what you do on the first day of the year is how you will spend the rest of the year. So, if that is the case, I slept in until 7 to find that my husband had to go out the deck door to smoke because the front door was frozen shut. Yep. Frozen shut. Add to that he has had a massive headache all night, so a couple of well-planted kicks opened it right up. So if the rule is what you do on today demonstrates the rest of the year, I guess I am retired already because I can't leave my house. Haha.
So, this morning I started with my morning prayer of thanksgiving, then the giggle of a frozen door, dishes in the dishwasher, coffee, and topped off with my husband not feeling well (massive headache). Today I have a choice to make. This choice will set the tone for my year. I can choose to see dark and misery, or I can choose to see Him.
Last night a friend of mine’s husband had a second stroke. Today they await the time for surgery. I can look at the devastation and stress that brings, or I can thank God that He was there and got my friends to the hospital in time. I can look at the ‘why them’ or I can watch Him work through them with their faith and strength. Though they may not see it, I do.
Last night my husband had a high sugar number and blood pressure. This morning he has high blood pressure and lower sugar. Last night I made his medicine so that we could bring the sugars down in hopes of bringing down the blood pressure. This morning, he starts a new blood pressure medicine. I could panic and wonder about what is going to happen, or I can trust that God will prompt me when a doctor is required. He has given me the tools to work here, so I will work here. Add to that fun, the front door being frozen shut. What kind of symbolism can we draw from that? There are loads. Too many to list. However, I look at it as ‘I am secure in my home because God is my shelter in my storm.’ Locked beneath His umbrella and protected by the tundra, trying to take over.
What is your New Year's Day looking like? What trials or celebrations are you staring at? Where are you focusing your eyes? Choose God. Choose Light. Choose Peace. Choose Grace. Choose Joy. Walk with Him and enjoy his presence today. Start your year with the One who created you and has never left you. Start your day with God.
Be blessed with peace and harmony today my friends.
***Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with God’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality. – Romans 12:9-13
