How God Uses Burdens to Reveal Purpose
Scripture Focus:
Malachi 1:1 (KJV) – “The burden of the word of the LORD to Israel by Malachi.”
Devotion:
God often speaks to His people through a burden—a weight of concern, a holy unrest, or a persistent tug on the heart. This spiritual burden is not meant to overwhelm you, but to guide you. It can be one of the clearest indicators of your God-given purpose, a divine signal pointing you toward where you are called to serve, speak, or stand.
Many seek to know their purpose yet overlook the burdens placed upon their spirit. As with Malachi, whose name means “My messenger,” a burden from the Lord is something to be lifted up and carried—it is an assignment wrapped in compassion. What stirs your heart with a sense of urgency? What injustice, need, or longing won’t leave your thoughts? That burden may be the very thing God wants you to address.
Do not dismiss burdens because they seem small or ordinary. Serving through practical means—whether cooking, encouraging, giving, or teaching—can be a sacred calling when prompted by the Spirit. Today, ask the Lord to help you recognize, interpret, and respond to the burdens He has placed within you.
Prayer:
Holy Spirit, thank You for speaking to me through the burdens of my heart. Give me discernment to understand Your leading and courage to step into the purpose You reveal. Help me to carry what You place upon me, for Your glory. Amen.

Proverbs 10:25 (MSG) – “When the storm is over, there’s nothing left of the wicked; good people, firm on their rock foundation, aren’t even fazed.”
