THE DIVINE ORDER
Be • Behave • Become
Scripture Focus:
Genesis 1:26 (KJV) – “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.”
Devotion:
Within this foundational verse lies a powerful sequence for living—what we might call the three “B’s” of divine design.
First, BE. God created us in His image. Our primary identity is rooted in His nature—holy, loved, and spirit-born. Before we do anything, we are called to know and rest in who we are in Him.
Second, BEHAVE. We are made after His likeness. This speaks to character, conduct, and the outward expression of His nature. As we embrace our identity, our lives should naturally reflect His love, integrity, and grace.
Third, BECOME. We are entrusted with dominion. Purpose and authority flow from identity and character. Ruling our world—spiritually, emotionally, and practically—is the outcome of being like Him and behaving as He does.
Too often we reverse the order, striving for influence or victory without first grounding ourselves in God’s identity and character. True dominion begins within. When you know who you are (BE), you will live accordingly (BEHAVE), and then you can walk in authority and purpose (BECOME).
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for creating me in Your image and calling me to walk in Your likeness. Help me to live first from my identity in You, that my life may reflect Your heart and fulfill Your purpose. Amen.
