Title: “Known by Name, Loved with Purpose — God’s Personal Call to You”

Scripture Focus:
“He calls His own sheep by name.” — John 10:3

Devotional Thought

1. The Feeling of Insignificance in a Noisy World

Many people today experience a sense of anonymity. In daily life we are reduced to numbers — queue tickets, ID numbers, waiting lists — and it can feel like no one truly sees us. This experience of depersonalization often seeps into our spiritual life too, leading us to wonder whether we really matter to God.

The enemy wants you to feel unseen, unimportant, and forgotten. But God’s Word reminds you that you are not just another face in the crowd — you are known, valued, and deeply loved by your Creator.

2. Jesus Calls You by Name — Personally and Intimately

In the shepherd-sheep imagery from John 10, Jesus contrasts how a hired hand treats the sheep with how the true Shepherd treats them. A hired hand may feed the sheep, but he does not know each one personally. Jesus, however, calls His sheep by name. That means:

* He recognizes you individually.
* He knows your situations and struggles.
* He understands your hurts, hopes, and heartaches.

God’s personal attention isn’t distant or abstract — it is deliberate. Just as Jesus didn’t avoid the Samaritan woman but went out of His way to meet her at the well, so God moves toward you wherever you are in life.

3. Jesus Met the Samaritan Woman — And He Meets You Too

This woman from Samaria had a complicated past. She had been married five times and was living with a man who wasn’t her husband. Clearly, her life was full of pain, unmet longing, and deep shame.

Yet Jesus didn’t dismiss her. Instead, He engaged with her where she was, revealing truth, offering grace, and giving her a new beginning. After encountering Him, she was so transformed that she ran back to her town to share the good news.

This shows us a profound truth:
God meets you not when you are perfect, but when you are open to meeting Him.
He offers grace to the broken, restoration to the wounded, and significance to the overlooked.

4. Your Value Isn’t Based on Achievement, But on His Love

Sometimes we measure our worth by what we accomplish — good grades, career success, social affirmation, or spiritual performance. But God does *not* value you based on what you do. He values you because of who you are — His beloved child.

Jesus came not for the perfect, but for those who feel inadequate, lost, or unseen. He came to bring abundant life, not just existence or survival. This means:

* Your identity is rooted in His grace.
* Your worth is secured by God’s love, not human approval.
* Your life has meaning beyond productivity or recognition.

5. A Grace That Transforms Shame Into Witness

After the Samaritan woman met Jesus, her transformation was not internal only — it became outward and contagious. She shared what she had received. In the same way, when God touches your life and makes you feel known, valued, and loved, it doesn’t stop with you. Your testimony becomes a beacon of hope to others.

What others need most isn’t performance or perfection — it’s the story of a loving God who sees them, knows them by name, and invites them deeper into His grace.

Daily Prayer

Loving Father, thank You for knowing me personally and calling me by name. Even in moments of doubt or insignificance, remind me that I matter to You. Help me receive Your grace freely, walk confidently in Your love, and share Your hope with those around me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
