DAILY DEVOTION — January 5

Pressing Forward

Philippians 3:13–14 (NKJV)

(Forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead...)
Paul’s words remind us that spiritual growth requires focus. He didn’t dwell on what was behind him;
he pressed forward with determination and faith. Every believer faces moments of regret, but looking
back too long can hinder what God is preparing ahead.

Renewal comes when we release the weight of the past and pursue the purpose God has placed
before us. Gratitude helps us move forward—it turns our attention from loss to lessons, from failure to
faith. Each new day is an opportunity to press toward the upward call of Christ with renewed strength
and vision.

Keep pressing. What’s ahead is far greater than what’s behind.

Reflection Questions:

1. What do I need to release from my past so I can move forward?

2. How can gratitude help me focus on what lies ahead?

3. What “goal” am I pressing toward in Christ this year?

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for giving me a future worth pursuing. Help me to let go of what’s behind and fix my
eyes on You. Give me strength to press forward with faith and joy. Amen.

Practical Application:

โ— Write down one area where you will “press forward” this week.

โ— Replace regretful thoughts with thanksgiving for God’s grace.

โ— Encourage someone else to move beyond their past through faith.

Takeaway Thought:

The past is a classroom, not a prison—press forward to what God has prepared.
