AMAZING GRACE
Faith’s Review and Expectation
7 Sermonettes

DAY 1 — “WHO AM I?”
1 Chronicles 17:16
“Amazing grace, how sweet the sound…”

SERMONETTE
David did something unusual.
He didn’t stand.
He didn’t strategize.
He didn’t ask.
He sat before the Lord.
And when he finally spoke, it wasn’t confidence that came out —
it was wonder.
“Who am I, O Lord God… that You have brought me this far?”
That question is the doorway to grace.
Grace never begins with what I’ve done.
Grace begins with what God has done — and my inability to explain it.
John Newton understood this deeply.
He didn’t start his hymn with praise — he started with astonishment.
“Amazing grace.”
Not convenient grace.
Not reasonable grace.
Amazing grace.
If grace no longer amazes us, it’s usually because we’ve started telling ourselves a better story about who we are.
But the gospel doesn’t inflate us —
it humbles us without crushing us.
The right posture before God is not self-hatred.
It is honest humility.
Grace sounds sweetest to those who remember where they would be without it.
