Dear Father,
I’ve learned that there are basic factors used to distinguish light from darkness. Yet clearly, we need more than these factors to avoid falling prey to the enemy, because I stumbled upon a scripture that says, “Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.” If Satan parades as light and not darkness, how then do we distinguish light from light?
This often becomes tricky—not because we seek out light that isn’t truly light, but because new converts, and those who sincerely love You, may be misled out of ignorance by people who call on Your name yet erode Your walk.
I’ve discovered that it is easier to know who does not belong in the family when we ourselves belong in the family. To recognize light that isn’t light, we must first be light—not light simply because we identify or call ourselves light; not light that lacks the essence to alter the stance of darkness; not light that flickers as often as the trials we face; and not light that is hidden.
This is the era in which we, Your children, must be fiercer than ever in revealing our light. To reveal it, we must first know and live as light. Only then will we become reflections without even trying. The enemy has no place here, because I know his light does not conquer darkness—it reveals it.
