THE ADVENT TRUTH
Many videos tell stories of people who “died,” left their bodies, saw heaven or hell, and came back to tell about it. Some even claim Jesus appeared to them. But the Bible gives us a test for every spiritual experience — “To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.” (Isaiah 8:20).

In Genesis 2:7 we’re told that man became a living soul when God breathed into him the breath of life. Scripture never says man has a soul that can exist apart from the body — he is a soul. When that breath returns to God (Ecclesiastes 12:7), thought and consciousness cease: “The dead know not any thing” (Ecclesiastes 9:5). That means every “out-of-body” story contradicts God’s Word. It’s not the departed spirit floating in space — it’s a deception designed to make people trust feelings and visions instead of Scripture.

Satan has always mixed emotion with error. In Eden he said, “Ye shall not surely die.” Today he says, “You never really died — you just left your body.” But Christ warned that in the last days false miracles and lying wonders will deceive many (Matthew 24:24; 2 Thessalonians 2:9-10). The safest ground is the Word of God, not the testimonies of those who contradict it.

If we truly believe Jesus, we’ll believe what He taught — that life and resurrection come only through Him (John 11:25). The good news is not that we live forever in spirit form, but that Christ will raise the faithful in glory at His return. Our hope is not in near-death experiences, but in a near-coming Savior.
