Good morning to everyone. Grace and Peace be with you.
Another fantastic night’s sleep. Got on the scale and I am down 3 pounds. That’s great news. I thought I was doing something right because I ‘felt’ better. I knew I had not dropped a ton, but I knew something had changed. I have stayed strong for a solid week, but not without challenges or obstacles. However, I am leaning very much on God to get me to that goal again that I was at just a few years ago.
Today is my scheduled day off. We have a couple of things on the calendar, but mostly we will just spend time together. I am going to cook a good-sized breakfast, clean up the kitchen, maybe even get dressed like a grown-up up and then we are going to disappear until it is appointment time. No plan, just us.
Yesterday, when I got to work, I found a man from district in my building. Spot inspection. This has become a new thing. We were sure we would fail; you never know what they are looking for so you really cannot ‘prepare’, but our office actually runs by the rules, so we do not worry too much about (visitors). They are more of an “are you done yet” item.
To lighten the mood during this inspection, one of my carriers asked me if he should go tell the boss that his license was expired … he drives for a living … haha … I told him please don’t, she would have a heart attack. HOWEVER …. I could not resist. When the carrier approached me, I thought the inspector was in the PMs office, he was actually outside with the carriers. When I saw that it could be pulled off as a joke, I popped my head in the door and asked if this would be a bad time to tell her that one of the carriers had approached me about the expiration of their license?” Her face lost all color … that is another story for another time. But I could not contain my laughter, and it is a good thing that her eyes could not shoot daggers.
Now, as funny as that was, the inspector did check that driver’s license and DID think it was expired. The driver lives in the state next door, and their dates are not in the same place as ours. SO, the inspector really did think it was expired. The carrier did show him that it was valid, and the two of them had a nice laugh. When the carrier did tell the PM, she started laughing.
Two things happened at work yesterday with that encounter. The inspection came out with only 3 things wrong. One was very minor, one was ridiculous (in my opinion) because who looks at the ‘flagpole’ specifically. Not that its appearance is not important, but in our inspections, they are pass or fail. That flagpole has been there probably since they built the building. And the 3rd one made sense, but kinda silly too. Anyway, everything else he checked off, we passed with flying colors … because we love what we do, we are good at what we do, and we follow the rules. So, inspections do not scare us. The second thing, do not let inspectors scare you. Humor helps keep the stress down. The last time this inspector was in our building, I made him laugh…by quoting a rule.
Life is much the same as a pop inspection. You don’t always know what people are seeing and humor will fix most any situation. If for nothing else, to break a little of the tension.
We knew that they were going to find ‘something,’ but we also knew that whatever it was, it was going to be obscure. That is what the inspection is for. But we were not going to let it dictate our mood. To lighten the mood, we played a harmless prank. That memory helped keep us upbeat the rest of the day.
When life throws you a curveball, even if you knew it could happen, seek the Light in the circumstance. Most times we know, inside, that something is coming, but it still hits hard in the moment. That is when we HAVE TO seek His face. He will show you the right path. Just have faith.
Be blessed.
***But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. – Mathew 6:33-34
