Morning, January 9th, 2026
Read; Matthew 5:43-45
We often talk about the benefits of being God's child, like being forgiven, saved, going to heaven with God, receiving the Holy Spirit, and winning in the end when Christ comes back. But one of the best things about being human is being able to treat people who don't like or hate us in a way that shows how God would treat them. Anyone can return hate for hate, but only a child of God can return blessings and prayers for his or her enemies.
Prayer
Father, I am grateful that you loved me even when I was still your enemy. Thank you for sending your Son to pay the penalty for my sins, so I could choose whether or not to accept your love. As you promised, please fill my heart with your love so I can love even my enemies as much as you have loved me. In Jesus' precious name, I pray. Amen.
