From a dry pace to His presence – Exo 3:1
Moses, not having a relationship with YHWH yet, went to tend the sheep on the backside of the desert. It was there at the mountain of Horeb that Moses met YHWH.
Horeb means to parch (through drought), that is, (by analogy) to desolate, destroy, kill.
YHWH was planning on using Moses mightily to set the children of Israel free from Egypt, but first Moses had to go through his desert experience. He also needed to meet and know Him.
This is similar to what we might go through in our own lives. We all have our desert experiences in our lives. That time when we feel dry emotionally, physically, or spiritually. We don’t see anything around us but dryness. That’s the time when we need to get on our hands and knees, and if we don’t already know him, we get to know him, and if we do know him, then we cry out to him and trust him that he will, like Moses, bring us through our desert experience.
YHWH Bless
