Ecumenism = Syncretism
The modern ecumenical movement sounds noble—“Let’s unite all Christians!”—but beneath the surface, it’s a dangerous counterfeit of true unity. The Bible never calls for unity at the expense of truth. Jesus prayed, “Sanctify them through Thy truth: Thy word is truth” (John 17:17). True unity can only exist when it is grounded in Scripture, not built on compromise.
The word ecumenical comes from a root meaning “the inhabited world.” Today it has become a platform for merging doctrines, blending light with darkness, and baptizing error under the name of love. But Amos 3:3 asks, “Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” When truth and error unite, truth always suffers.
From the tower of Babel to the golden calf, mankind has always tried to mix devotion to God with idolatry. The modern ecumenical movement is simply the latest version of this—baptized syncretism. It brings together “faiths” that deny the Sabbath, the state of the dead, and even the divinity of Christ, and still claims to represent the body of Christ. But the Bible warns, “Come out of her, My people” (Revelation 18:4).
God’s last-day people will not join hands with confusion. They will stand apart, guided by His Word alone. The world calls it division; Heaven calls it purity. While the dragon gathers the kings of the earth into one false unity, the faithful remnant will cling to Christ and His commandments (Revelation 12:17).
True unity isn’t found in Rome’s council halls or interfaith summits—it’s found at the cross, under the banner of God’s unchanging truth.
