Monday Moments With The Master

Luke 5:29-32

During his ministry on earth Messiah went against the norms of this world and the above scripture is a prime example of that...

Luke 5:29-32 (29) And Levi (Matthew) made him a great feast in his own house: and there was a great company of publicans and of others that sat down with them. (30) But their scribes and Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with publicans and sinners? (31) And Messiah answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick. (32) I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

In the scripture Matthew made a feast in his own house. Now it says here that there was a great company of publicans and others that sat down with them. It does not specify in this scripture what the others is but if you read the next Scripture verse 30 it tells you who these people publicans and sinners so the other the speaking of in verse 29 is speaking of sinners. This, of course, upset the scribes and Pharisees who thought he should not be eating with, what they considered, a lower class of people. Messiah doesn’t see anyone as a lower class of people. He sees us as a sinner in need of his forgiveness. He sees us with a heart of compassion. It isn’t his will that any should perish, including the scribes and Pharisees, but that ALL should come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9)

So, where does that leave us today? Do we find ourselves judging someone before we know their situation? Looking down on someone who is homeless without finding out the reason why. Maybe the lost their job and in turn lost their house because of it. Or maybe they lost their home and all their possessions in a fire. Maybe we should not be so quick to judge and look at them through the eyes of YHWH.

Messiah said in Luke 14:12-14…

Luke 14:12-14 (12) Then said he also to him that bade him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbours; lest they also bid thee again, and a recompence be made thee. (13) But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind: (14) And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.

Oh, that we would do what Messiah told us to do in Matthew 22:9…

Matthew 22:9 Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage.

Thank you and YHWH bless!
