God Didn’t Make Pretzels
Some people struggle their whole lives with self-worth. They look at their family members, friends, co-workers, or even strangers and feel that they just don’t measure up. Everyone else seems to be more talented, popular, or successful. But you should never compare yourself to others. Our differences are what make us unique and beautiful. The world would be a boring place if everyone looked and acted the same. No one should make you feel unloved because you don’t measure up to their expectations. Remember, God didn’t create you to be a pretzel, so don’t twist yourself into a person whom others want you to be. Be yourself. Too many people overvalue what they are NOT and undervalue what they ARE. It is easier to comprehend your value when you understand that you are a child of the King of the Universe. God also didn’t create you to be a doormat, so be kind to yourself. You are a prince or princess of God and deserving of love and respect. You must find the courage to get up and leave the table if respect is no longer being served. It’s difficult to treat others as children of God if you don’t treat yourself that way. Living a godly life will enable you not only to see your value but to esteem others and help them see their worth as well. The Bible says in Luke 10:27, “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind,’ and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ ” Remember, God didn’t make pretzels . . . everyone is uniquely different by God’s design. So embrace the differences, and love who He made you to be. Text: Romans 12:2, Psalm 1:1, Galatians 1:10, Romans 8:5-6
