WHEN THE FEAR OF GOD GROWS COLD

Scripture: Matthew 24:12 “And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.”

Insight:
We live in a generation where many live as though tomorrow is guaranteed. Life is spent carelessly, with little thought of death, eternity, or the return of Jesus Christ. Wickedness is no longer hidden; it is practiced boldly.

The fear of God, once the foundation of wisdom, has faded in many hearts. And where the fear of God is absent, spiritual sensitivity is lost.

God’s patience is often mistaken for permission. His silence is interpreted as approval. Yet Scripture makes it clear that life is a vapor, and every breath we take is mercy. The delay of judgment is not weakness; it is grace still calling humanity to repentance.

Reflection:
This reality should not only grieve us—it should examine us. Are we living ready, or living carelessly? Have we grown familiar with sin, comfortable with compromise, or cold toward the things that once stirred our hearts? The world may grow darker, but God’s people are called to grow brighter.

The absence of the fear of God in many hearts is a reminder for believers to guard their own hearts diligently. Coldness is contagious if we are not watchful. We must daily renew our reverence for God, remembering that eternity is real and Christ’s return is certain.

Prayer:
Father, restore in me a clean heart and a renewed fear of You. Deliver me from spiritual carelessness and hidden compromise.

Help me to live each day with eternity in view, walking humbly, loving deeply, and remaining ready for Your return. Keep my heart burning in a world growing cold. Amen.

Reality:
When the fear of God is restored, love is revived, and eternity regains its urgency.

God's Loving Heart.
