So something to know about myself - I am a female monk, yes we do exist. I have been so for many years, and yes there are scattered throughout the US some abbeys that are for the sisterhood of monks. Sometimes we are called to go out from the abbey to do missionary work,, medical assist work, disaster work, other times it is because of family situations that require our presence and that may be for an extended period of time to care for the disabled until they pass. This life of singleness is not for every woman - but it has been the joy of my life to serve the Lord in such capacity. I am now a senior in years, I teach long forgotten crafts and food preservation on a volunteer basis in between my care giving, it is a privilege to take care of elderly members and make their final times more meaningful. My hope and prayers are that each of you here find your calling in life in service to the Lord. There is no greater blessing and honor than to serve others in need and share God's word and love.
