Chapter 22 Beast with Lamb-like horns
Adventists interpret the beast in the second half of Rev 13 – the beast with the lamb-like horns – to be the USA. We see this landmass as a place with no inhabitants, in contrast with Europe which has been inhabited for thousands of years (chapter 21). What this does, though, is that it dehumanises Native Americans. In the previous chapter we have explored the concept that earth represents the opposite of humans – the metaphysical. In this chapter we will elaborate on this concept with the focus on the beast with the Lamb-like horns that speaks like a dragon:
Rev 13:11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.
Christ is the Lamb of God. This beast must in some way resemble Christ, having lamb-like horns. Ellen White indicates that Satan will appear as Christ, doing miracles, even causing fire to come down from heaven:
Rev 13:13 And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,
Satan will come in to deceive if possible the very elect. He claims to be Christ, and he is coming in, pretending to be the great medical missionary. He will cause fire to come down from heaven in the sight of men to prove that he is God. (Medical Ministry, 87, 88.)
It is the lying wonders of the devil that will take the world captive, and he will cause fire to come down from heaven in the sight of men. He is to work miracles; and this wonderful, miracle-working power is to sweep in the whole world. (Selected Messages 2:51.)
The over-riding understanding of Ellen White and the pioneers about this beast is that it is the USA. However, she was inspired to also see this beast as Satan pretending to be Christ. In Matthew 24 we are warned about false Christs:
23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.
24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
25 Behold, I have told you before.
26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.
Satan has desired to masquerade on Earth as Christ to deceive everybody if it were possible. But God has not allowed him to do this. However, when the time is right, God will remove His checks on Satan and he will be quick to appear on Earth as Christ, ready to deceive. This is what happens at the 5th Trumpet. Satan and his deceiving mob of evil angels will be liberated and they will swarm the Earth to deceive as many people as possible. Satan himself will create an apparition of Christ, and most people will be deceived by this dazzling being working miracles, believing him to be Christ. Like Elijah, he will cause fire to come down from heaven, deceiving many people that he is Christ. This apparition is the beast with lamb-like horns.

To have the crowds believe that he really is Christ, he will perform all sorts of miracles, even causing fire to come down from heaven in the presence of crowds of people.
The image of the beast is Apostate Protestantism. The Christ-apparition will empower Protestantism by having church and state unite, enforcing worship of the Trinity god on Sundays. Sunday laws will be enacted and enforced. Anyone that does not worship the Trinity and worship on Sundays will be persecuted. Thus, Apostate Protestantism will follow in the footsteps of Medieval Catholicism, making it the Image of the Beast. The mark of the beast is Sunday worship and Trinitarianism. Those that refuse to fall in line will have their crypto bank accounts frozen. At that time the whole World will have gone crypto.
This will be a hard time for God’s people who have refused to listen to the Christ-apparition and stayed away from his rallies. They will not be allowed to shop or trade, and will be persecuted. However, God has promised to take care of His children. We must remain faithful, and like the Three Worthies stay standing when the majority bow down to the Image of the Beast. It will be safer to avoid this Lamb-like beast.
