THREE ANGELS BROADCASTING NETWORK DEVOTIONAL
Not Forgotten. Not Alone.

“Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” Matthew 6:26

She was in total despair. Life hadn’t turned out the way she’d planned. Her days had become as dark as her nights as she worked three jobs, barely making enough to pay the bills—much less provide for the needs of her children.

Although she had an inner strength—faith in an Almighty God—at times like these she had to fight with all her might to keep hope alive. Then came the day when she just couldn’t go on any longer. She had been stepped on more than she could handle. Satan had convinced her one too many times that she was worthless, incapable of providing, and a hopeless failure. She had to escape.

There was only one way out, and she knew it. So, as her children played, she made her way to her bedroom, the only place of solitude in her house. Closing and locking the door behind her, she fell to the floor, completely exhausted and broken. With uncontrollable tears, she cried out to her Father, holding nothing back. As a child pleading her case to the Only One able to rescue her, she poured her heart out to her only hope.

Touched by her cry, her loving Father put His arms around her. There, in the cold darkness of a lonely room, His light shone deeply into her heart. No, she was not forgotten. She was not alone.

Suddenly, she heard a knock. Gathering her composure, she wiped her tear-stained face and headed for the front door. As she opened it, she was overcome with amazement. There in front of her stood two friends from church—angels in ordinary clothes—holding groceries in their arms. “Here, honey. We love you,” they said.

As they left, her little family eagerly tore into their treasures. How did they know? she wondered.

“Look, Mom! It’s my favorite cereal!” Then another child cried out, “Mine too, Mom. Mine, too!”

Two gallons of milk and their favorite cereal. What a God! she thought. He not only provided, but he brought the best to my little ones.

Through her tears, she found her way once more to her bedroom floor, this time in grateful thanksgiving. Wow, Jehovah Jireh, my God who sees and provides! she whispers. And like a Great Shepherd caring for His little lamb, He reached down, put His loving arms around her, and reassured her once again that he was real and that He loved her.
