Intercessory Prayer
Most Christians understand that prayer is not only a privilege that is ours - it is necessary for our salvation! But what about friends and loved ones who don’t know what an awesome Lord and Savior we serve? There are many people in this world who don’t have a clue who God is and how very much He loves them. When we fall in love with Jesus, we can’t help but want to share Him with everyone we meet - especially those we love. The best way to witness is to live a life where God’s love and purity is reflected in our daily actions - but just as important is praying intercessory prayers. The dictionary defines the word Intercessory as: “The act of interceding, or praying for others.” The Bible says in 1 Samuel 12:23, “Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you; but I will teach you the good and the right way.” The Bible makes it very clear that it is not only necessary to pray for others, but it is a sin not to! Jesus not only prayed intercessory prayers for us when He was on earth, but He is still interceding on our behalf today! Satan knows full well the power of God, which is why he constantly attacks our prayer life. When tempted to be discouraged because your children, spouse, parents, and loved ones don’t know Jesus, pray! Yes, love them enough to pray passionately that God will send His Holy Spirit to keep knocking at their hearts' door - giving them no peace or rest until they make a full surrender to God! Text: Hebrews 7:25, Romans 1:9, John 17:20-21, Colossians 1:9
