THREE ANGELS BROADCASTING NETWORK DEVOTIONAL
My God is Real.

“Is anything too hard for the Lord?” Genesis 18:14.

My parents were believers and often talked to me about God, which was unusual since I grew up in Russia during the communist era. My father told me how God saved him during the war, but that didn’t convince me of His existence because, at school, we were told something completely different. I guess I chose to believe the teachers over my parents.

After high school, I attended the Polytechnic Institute and received a degree in metallurgical engineering. At twenty-nine, I got married and gave birth to two girls. When my youngest daughter Natasha was about two months old, she became very ill with a 104º fever that lasted for nine days! Nothing could bring it down. The next day, I met a friend who gave me the “Our Father” prayer. I read it out loud, and at the end, I added my own words, “God, if you are up there, please help me!” But I really didn’t think He would.

After I prayed, my daughter and I both fell asleep, and when I woke up, everything was quiet. My first thought was that my daughter had died because the doctor had told us that if we didn’t put her in the hospital, she would. I reached out and touched her, and she was alive! I checked her temperature, and it was normal! How glad I was when my daughter woke up cheerful, with a good appetite, and completely healthy. The Lord answered my prayer, and from that moment on, I began to turn to Him for help.

Living conditions were very difficult at that time in Russia, and four of us were living in a 10 by 15 ft. dormitory room. At the factory where my husband and I worked, at least half the families were desperate for housing. While the company provided some free housing, there was a huge line to receive one.

Once again, I decided to ask God for help and simply said, “Lord, You see how cramped we are. Please help us,” and soon I was summoned to the office of the plant director! I was a simple designer, and I didn’t know him personally. That worried me as I thought, Why would he call for me?

The director greeted me very kindly, and as we walked from the reception area to his office, he asked, “Do you need an apartment?”

I was speechless. “Well, yes… of course,” I finally managed to say as I felt my heart pounding out of my chest. “Yes, I need one. Yes, I still need one!”

You cannot imagine my surprise and joy when he promised to give us an apartment the next year—on the condition that my husband agreed to a new position of assistant production manager for the entire department!

Of course, my husband agreed, but time passed, and we did not get the apartment. In addition, the director began to avoid meeting with us. So again, I turned to God with a short prayer, “Lord, help us to get an apartment as soon as possible according to the director’s promise.” Soon, we moved into our new apartment.

I was overjoyed, and my heart was filled with gratitude to God. I knew that the apartment was His gift, and I realized that prayer had changed my life. Now that I believed in God, I asked to be removed from the ranks of the Communist Party, and from then on, I have told everyone who will listen about how God answers prayers. I’ve become a completely different person, and now I’m walking with God, and He helps me with everything!
