Good evening to everyone. Grace and Peace be with you.

Today was a frozen tundra day. Very cold outside my window. Very cozy and warm inside my office. It was such a cozy day that I made the choice to be at peace and cozy all day. One load of dishes was done. One load of laundry was done. One pitcher of tea was made. That is the extent of my activity today. It was wonderful.

Today’s society dictates that we must pursue our goals or ambitions constantly and without ceasing. We are to charge forward without regard to our health or minds. Anyone who is not on the fast track to success is considered slothful. Or worse … lazy.

Now it could be that I am winding down to the more relaxed mode of life with my pending retirement; however, I think it was more that God said, “There is nothing on the calendar. There are no projects. Your mom is doing fine. Your husband is doing fine. Today you rest.” And for once, I completely listened. All I did was sit and watch episode after episode of my addictive television show. Roughly 10 hours…I laughed, I cried, I watched the pretend life unfold on my TV for pure entertainment. It was wonderful.

I believe that God sees us in our busiest times, gives us the focus that we need to stay on track, and when He sees that we are at our limit … well, … then he puts us in total time out. That is what happened today. Total time out.

Tomorrow is another day in the life of a postal employee after a holiday. Tomorrow will bring its own chaos. Tomorrow will be here in a short while. Tomorrow, I will be ready … because today … I rested and shut my brain off.

When God puts you in time out, don’t fight Him. Stop for a moment and look at what has been going on. When you see that the time out is necessary because your stress level is too high … embrace it and enjoy the one day He has given you to not be responsible for anything but making it to the bathroom on time.

***Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth. –Psalm 46:10
