Chapter 26 The Bear

If Britain is the Lion, who is the bear in a contemporary understanding of Dan 7?

5 And behold another beast, a second, like to a bear, and it raised up itself on one side, and it had three ribs in the mouth of it between the teeth of it: and they said thus unto it, Arise, devour much flesh.

The national emblem of Russia is a bear. One of the national symbols of China is the giant panda. If this beast represents two nations which today are in an alliance, which one is the greater nation, since the one side of the bear is raised? Population-wise, and economically it would be China. However, China has not been as war-like in its revolutionary origins compared to Russia. Russia’s communism was a harder type. Russia was expansive militarily and fought more wars than China. The Russia of today is again involved in a war. This time it is an existential war against the West and its proxies. What is the meaning of the three ribs in its mouth? Could it represent Georgia and the Ukraine? The third rib could be a war in the future still. Could it be China taking Taiwan? One can only speculate at this stage. As the future unfolds we will have a better understanding of the three ribs in its mouth.

In the next two chapters we will try and find a contemporary meaning for the leopard with its four heads.
