Good morning to everyone. Grace and Peace be with you.
The “Start Strong” writing competition, which is a freebie, is wrapping up. They have given us the prompts, and now I have both twists. Though the twists are optional, you gain bonus points if you use them. The contest started Jan 6th. I was not going to join due to my busy schedule; however, like most of the time … we make plans, and God says, “Hey…can you do me a solid?” Of course, we said “Yes, Lord.”
During this time with the original prompts, I have composed several different short stories within the guidelines. Then the first prompt twist hit. The inanimate object prompt must be alive, and it must not be the actual object … not a symbol or look-alike. In this new thought, I designed a couple more ideas. The last prompt was revealed this week, and I was like … hmmph. I was really not happy. However…. The twist was released this Tuesday. I have thought about not using it since it is not mandatory, but God has said … “think about it. You got this.” He has said, “The story you are telling is a difficult one, but one that needs to be told. The story that you are writing fits perfectly inside the walls of these prompts … and the twists … they actually help your story. Do not be close-minded. Embrace the challenge.”
Variations of these words have popped into my mind repeatedly over the last couple of days. Once I quit blocking the goal net, and allowed His voice to enter, I believe I have the story that He wants me to write. I just needed to be still.
Is there an obstacle or event that you are not quite sure of? Something that you know you have to do, but are on the fence about which side is prompting you to move forward? For every two steps forward, you feel like you instantly take three steps back? I understand. I do.
Today, I want to encourage you to take a few moments and just be still. Whether in your car before you leave for work or after you get to the parking lot…sit in silence and be still. Whether it is in your kitchen, sipping your coffee, be still. Whether it is simply a quiet spot in your home … be still. Let the Holy Spirit come upon you and fill you with His presence. In that moment, you will be led to the path that you were destined to take. All you have to do is … be still.
