THREE ANGELS BROADCASTING NETWORK
Led by the Holy Spirit.

Growing up in a typical Russian family of atheists, my mother often told me that when my unbelieving grandfather was dying, he fell unconscious—and then suddenly opened his eyes and said to his wife, “Mother, pray to God!” After that, my grandmother began praying and going to church. She taught me that God existed, but I was afraid of Him because I knew He punished those who disobeyed.

As a young adult, I believed I had a special gift of clairvoyance—a supernatural ability to see things beyond my natural vision. I seemed to be able to find a lost person from a photograph, or see what would happen to others in a dream. Sometimes, I’d see someone on the street and predict their future—but I could only predict bad and tragic things. I didn’t know what to do with this “gift,” and it tormented me. Of course, these supernatural abilities didn’t appear overnight. I had books on black and white magic that I carefully read and applied. I was also attracted by anything mysterious and unusual—including various religions and philosophies.

I remember really wanting a Bible because of its ancient wisdom; however, they were almost impossible to find in Russia. Then one day, my husband was given a Bible as a sign of special respect, and he gave it to me. But unfortunately, I had no better use for it than to try to use it for divination.

No one warned me about books on magic, but some said it would be better not to read the Bible. However, I did read it, and discovered that it had wise instruction, and that God loved us very much. I also learned that some were led by the Holy Spirit, and I wondered, What does that mean? So one morning, after seeing my husband and children off, I prayed as best as I could for the Holy Spirit to lead me somewhere, and began walking down the main road.

As I passed the school where I worked, I smiled, thinking, If my colleagues knew what I was doing they’d definitely send me to a psychiatric hospital! But I wonder where God will take me? As I walked through the city, I saw a dilapidated building called The Palace of the Pioneers, where I once led out in a magic gathering. Going in to see if there were any new events, a woman greeted me pleasantly. “Hello! Are you visiting us? Please come in.”

Looking into a room where people were gathered, I felt the urge to go in. But fear kept me from doing what my heart was drawn to because I would have had to walk in at the front, and everyone would see me.

“No, no, I came to see the schedule,” I said; and she replied, “That’s a pity, but please come see us again.”

Shortly after, a neighbor loaned me a book for a few weeks called The Great Controversy, but I didn’t have time to read it much before she wanted it back. Then a couple of men knocked on my door and offered me a religious newspaper. “Thank you, but do you have anything else to read?” I asked. The next day, one of them came back with some books. He greeted me with words I will remember for the rest of my life, saying, “Peace to this house!” Luke 10:5. He offered me several books to choose from, but told me his favorite was The Great Controversy—the very book I didn’t have time to finish!

He asked if I had a Bible, and I proudly walked over to where I kept and worshiped my icons and picked it up. Then he asked me to read the second commandment in Exodus 20:4–6 that says only the living God should be worshiped. When I boasted that I had a cross, he answered with words from Jeremiah 9:24 (NASB): “Let the one who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me.”

He set me up to study the Bible with a lady who eventually invited me to attend a worship service—and you can imagine my surprise when she led me to a familiar dilapidated building called The Palace of the Pioneers! So this is what it means to be led by the Holy Spirit! I thought. A year before—at my request—God had brought me to His church by the shortest way; but my fear kept me from going in. Now, God guided me back. There was no need to look for anything else.

Back home from my first service, I said to my son, “I went to church today, and I really liked it. Why don’t you come with me next time?” His heart immediately responded to God’s call, and he said, “Okay, let’s go!” Since then, he’s come to church every Sabbath.

After reading the Holy Scriptures, I collected every scrap of literature that didn’t measure up to biblical truth and burned it with my garbage! The large fire burned for a long time, and as I watched, I felt enormous relief. I was angry that this satanic literature had clouded my brain for decades, preventing me from seeing my way to God; but now my sins were burning with those books in the flames of God’s fire! It reminded me of the story in Acts 19:18–19 that says, “And many who had believed came confessing and telling their deeds. Also, many of those who had practiced magic brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all.”

The Lord warns us to stay away from “one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. For all who do these things are an abomination to the Lord.” Deuteronomy 18:10–12. He answered my questions about my supernatural “gift” of clairvoyance, and since then, I have never used it again!

Dear ones, if you are fortune telling or going to fortune tellers, know that you are in contact with evil spirits! Please repent and ask God for help. In these End Times, the last message for our lost and dying world is: “Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come.” Revelation 14:7.
