I Give Up!
Exodus 12:30-36

As we read the Torah portion this week, we see that Pharaoh finally realizes that he is not greater than YHWH.

In verse 30 it says that there was a great cry in Egypt. Why? Right after that it explains why. There was not a house where there was not a firstborn did not die. Just as YHWH said he would do! YHWH said what he would do and did what he said.
Pharaoh finally relented and let the people go. He also said to take your flocks and herds and be gone. He says something interesting after that, “and bless me also”. Scriptures give the indication that Pharaoh confesses that the EL the children of Israel serve is greater than the gods he serves.

After that the Egyptians were so eager to get the children of Israel because they feared they would die.

In verse 35 they borrowed ((H7592) A primitive root; to inquire; by implication to request; by extension to demand) from the Egyptians jewels and clothing as much as they needed. Here’s a question, why would the children of Israel need jewels? It was to do what YHWH said, spoil the Egyptians.

What does this mean for us today? Just like the children of Israel were in Egypt for 430 years (Exodus 12:40) and were delivered we too will be delivered from our trials a tribulation. YHWH might not deliver us from them but he will see us through them.

YHWH Bless
