Good morning to everyone. Grace and Peace be with you.

I must have been tired. I just woke up. When my eyes opened, I could see light creeping through the edge of my curtains. Since that does not happen til nearly 8 am these days, I must have been tired.

We do have a couple of appointments today, but they are afternoon appointments, so this was the perfect day to just take it slow. Let me tell you, my coffee tastes absolutely fantastic.

Last night was a chili kind of night. I stopped at the store to pick up the fixings after work. Unloading the bags, my husband asked me for the beans … I looked at him with the dumbest look I could muster … I forgot the beans. How do you make chili without beans and it taste right? I told him I would just run down to the DG and get us a can, but he was hungry and said don’t worry about it. As expected, the chili did not taste the same. It was missing something to make it whole. It was missing the beans. And though I am not a big fan of the beans, it is a requirement for chili. At least in our house.

This morning, it came to me that our lackluster chili is like a lot of ‘Christian’ walks. We say the things. We act the act. We make sure that we are inside the coloring lines. But we are missing something. There is an element or a component that is missing. It just is not filling us up. That one thing that is missing … that makes us whole, that would be God. WE have left him out of the equation and have done “the things” we were told to do, to say, and to act. But we did not let Him in. Without Him, all the words and actions … they are pointless. They mean nothing without Him. You cannot have the fulfilling peace of God if you do not earnestly invite Him in every day, every moment, every inkling of your life. You will always be missing the beans. It all tastes okay and fills your belly, but it is not the same.

It seems like today’s Christian only knows the surface area of Follow Me. They seem to miss the ‘depth’ of Follow Me. When you miss the depth, you miss the point, and you will miss the true presence of the Holy Spirit. A complete indwelling of the Holy Spirit produces a Christian walk as you have never experienced before. If you are one of those eating a less-than-satisfying bowl of beanless chili, I encourage you to toss in a can and fill your soul like it has never felt. Purposefully invite the Holy Spirit into each aspect of your life.

**
Holy Spirit, as I sit in my car and prepare for my work, I ask you to walk with me today and may I bring glory to your name.

Holy Spirit, as I walk to my station and see the chaos around me, I ask that you guide my steps and my words to bring glory and honor to your name.

Holy Spirit, as this day progresses, I can feel an internal turmoil brewing within me. I ask Lord that you silence the demon that is trying to escape and replace him with Your peace.

Holy Spirit, I see the injustices of the world at work inside this work area. Please guide my words to bring You back into a fruitful season here.

Holy Spirit, I thank you for walking with me today. Without your presence in my heart, I surely would have made different choices. I pray that my choices, in fact, brought glory to you.

**

Be blessed.
