Good morning to you. Grace and Peace be with you.

Can you believe it? It is the end of January. The first month of the new year is over. In the first two sentences, I have had to correct three things. I must really need more coffee. (spelling is not my thing today, this might take a while)

On the 3rd, starts another short story contest. In this arena, they have built classes to pick from that help sway the prompts that you get. This last one that I did this month, I was set up as a fighter. The prompts were pretty much out in left field. I changed my class to a cleric to see what kind of prompts it generates. I am genuinely curious. I still have the option to redraw if I am not satisfied with the original prompts, but I believe that I have only used them one time in the three years I have been competing. I prefer to challenge myself.

As I prepare to retire, I am preparing myself for a shift change. A shift from getting up every morning at the same time to go to work, to a shift of just getting up. Yes, I will have things that I must do, writing, wifey stuff, but the general atmosphere is going to be different. My responsibilities will be completely re-grouped. Change for me is a hit and miss. Some changes I take easily, especially if it makes sense in my brain. However, most do not sit well with me, and it takes time for me to process them. I am kind of on the teeter totter with how I am responding to this change of retirement.

(For those who think I am changing my mind…the answer is I am not.)

I was thinking about the show The Chosen. There is a scene where Matthew goes to Jesus about how Peter is treating him. Jesus listened and then asked him if he had ever asked Peter for his forgiveness. Matthew thought long and hard about that question. A couple of scenes later, Peter goes to Jesus to complain about Matthew and how he thinks that Matthew should not be a part of the group. Jesus told him that forgiveness is measured at 7 times 70 times. The intent is to not keep count of the transgressions. Peter thought long and hard on that position. Later in the episode, the two embrace after Peter forgives Mathew for the things that he did as a tax collector to his family. He did so in front of the rest of the followers to provide a context of true forgiveness. He stood on that forgiveness, and in the show, they became a team of sorts as they led a Roman to Jesus of the Teacher’s help.

I have such a scenario in my life where I have a challenge before me and I must deal with it in almost the same manner. I have not been grieved or offended; however, the situation requires the same approach that Jesus took. Stating the facts in a calm and collected manner. To be honest, my persona is a lot like Peter … a hothead.

I tend to look at everything and everyone’s reactions to situations and judge if not to my liking. Just stating the fact that I am flawed. However, I have noticed that I have let go of a lot of my personal opinion for the hope that the change will come with time. My personal and instant satisfaction is not required. If you know me at all, you know that this is an area that I struggle with.

Today I choose to pray on, meditate on, and sink myself into the areas that He has placed in front of me to deal with. I will ask Him to give me the words that I need to use to spread His word in this situation. And I am going to pray fervently that I follow His lead.

If you have a similar situation or challenge before you, I encourage you to go to Him and seek his guidance. I know it will help. All we have to do is listen.

Be blessed.
