With my hands raised high
Exodus 17:8-16
This week’s Torah portion is rich with information!
Let’s start with verse 8 where we see Mose telling Joshua to gather some men to fight against the army of Amalek. The verses I would like to focus in on for this study today is verses 11-13.
Exodus 17:11-13 - And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed: and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. - But Moses' hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. - And Joshua discomfited Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.
What does that mean for us today? Well as long as we have our hands raised up to YHWH in surrender, we will have victory in our life. It takes a full surrender of our lives to YHWH.
Just like someone who commits a crime and is caught by the police. When they are caught, they are told to raise their hands above their head. Why? The police want them to surrender.
As we see in the above verse if we fully surrender to YHWH the blessings of YHWH will follow us.
