Put Off the Old, Put On the New
Colossians 3:1-4 TOL Therefore, if you have been raised up with Messiah, keep seeking the things above--where Messiah is, sitting at the right hand of God.
Focus your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.
For you have died, and your life is hidden with Messiah in God.
When Messiah, who is your life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him, in glory!
Put On the New Self
Colossians 3:1-4 Amplified THEREFORE IF you have been raised with Christ [to a new life, sharing in His resurrection from the dead], keep seeking the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God
Set your mind and keep focused habitually on the things above [the heavenly things], not on things that are on the earth [which have only temporal value].
For you died [to this world], and your [new, real] life is hidden with Christ in God.
When Christ, who is our life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.
He Is Your Life
Colossians 3:1-4 The Message Naypress 2011 So if you're serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don't shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you.
Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ--that's where the action is. See things from his perspective.
Your old life is dead. Your new life, which is your real life--even though invisible to spectators--is with Christ in God. He is your life.
When Christ (your real life, remember) shows up again on this earth, you'll show up, too--the real you, the glorious you. Meanwhile, be content with obscurity, like Christ.
Remember what Christ taught, and let his words enrich your lives.
Colossians 3:1-4 Catholic Living Bible The Way Illustrated Edition Since you became alive again, so to speak, when Christ arose from the dead, now set your sights on the rich treasures and joys of heaven where he sits beside God in the place of honor and power.
Let heaven fill your thoughts; don't spend your time worrying about things down here.
You should have as little desire for this world as a dead person does. Your real life is in heaven with Christ and God.
And when Christ who is our real life comes back again, you will shine with him and share in all his glories.
