Good morning to everyone. Grace and Peace be with you.

Today is the opening day of the new Novel 90 challenge. The idea is to write, edit, and be ready to publish in 90 days, a novel of 50,000 words or more. The book I just published was started long beforehand, but with all the revisions and rewrites, I actually did write the book in 90 days and had it in eBook publishing. I was not sure if I would join this challenge or sit this one out. It seems that He has plans for the next book in the series. Writing Unconditional Love boosted my confidence and gave me courage. Since I am not an avid reader, knowing exactly what is too much or not enough tends to be a sticky arena. However, I did enjoy writing Unconditional Love and my beta readers enjoyed all the aspects. So, I am not as frightened.
He has given me the overall concept; now I must find my beginning. I know that once I begin, the words will fly.

Growing up, I was not in the popular crowd, as it were. WE were a crowd and we were popular in our own eyes, but we were not the group that ‘everyone’ sought out. That was okay with us. We did not particularly care for the snooties anyway. For me, though I tried not to show it, I did have a concern or worry about acceptance. Like most, I wanted to get high praise all the time and be the best. That was not in my cards, and looking back, I am grateful. I wasn’t, and still am not, a big fan of big change. It had to be my idea in my head.

I have shared that my coming to Christ was different from a lot of people. There was no rock bottom. There was no euphoria. There was no ‘special’ circumstance. My Jesus moment was like most of my decisions. It came to me. I mulled it over for a bit. Then decided that was what I wanted to do. Looking back, it could have very well been a segway for me to fit in. I was still me. I really never went out of my way to sin, as it were, but I never really went out of my way not to sin either. Making the decision was like the first Lego in my destiny. Making the decision was like the first words of a new novel. Making the decision was like the first steps of a marathon.

I have spoken to many about their belief system. I have listened to and pondered their ‘why’. I am pretty sure my face does a lot of talking while I am listening. I have heard a lot of heartfelt reasons, and my heart breaks each time, because I know the truth. I know the peace. I know the grace. I know the love. I know that making that first step is the hardest. I know that making that first step is walking into the unknown. I know that making that first step means that … well, it means acceptance into a world where love is given freely. It means that accountability is given with love and correction is just that, correction … not judgement.

Now, before you reply and say that is not always the case. Yes, some claim to have taken the first step, but they are looking for superiority, not life. The true Christian will talk to you with earnest discernment and show you how the error you made is against God’s word. Not condemn you for it. And for those who have seen the word ‘acceptance’, do not be dismayed that all is acceptable. It is not. The purpose of this post is to educate that the first step, being the hardest, being the most important, IS the first building block or sentence, or leg in a life with Him. The first step, once executed, brings in a reality that surpasses all understanding. The first step … is a new beginning.

Today, as you go about your day of worship and praise to Him, ask him to enlighten you to your own walk and areas where you may need to take a first step. He has shown me several areas that I need to work on. Today I give thanks for my first steps. They have changed my life.

Be blessed.

**I will praise the Lord with all my heart, I will tell of all the marvelous things he has done. – Psalm 91:1
