The abuse began as a toddler.
My step grandfather was holding me, while my mom was in the kitchen. He was fondling me, and I began to cry. My mom called from the kitchen, “is she ok?” My grandfather muffled my cry with his hand. He responds, “yes she is fine.” But I can’t breathe, and I’m hurting in my private area. At age 5, my uncle takes me to a satanic ritual where I am dedicated to satan. I was sexually abused, and a ritual was performed on me. The sexual abuse continues, but now from my step father, cousins, grandfather, and I was passed around to my step father’s friends. My body isn’t mine. I try telling my mom and she just responds, "tell him to stop.” But I am just a kid, I needed her to tell them to stop! By age 14, I’m pregnant but who’s is it? I secretly have an abortion. I was so scared, and it was painful. I ride the bus home, never to talk about it. I often wondered what my child would have grown up to be. At 15, I was in the arms of a 23 year old. He let me live with him, it felt better than being at home. He got me pregnant and then made me choose him, or the baby. I chose him. No one taught me to advocate for myself. No one taught me that my body was mine. No one taught me to say NO! I didn’t know love without sex.
I hated myself. I was so angry and full of shame. I was in and out of psych wards, from attempts of suic*de. I wanted to die, to be free of my tormented soul. Later, I did modeling and some prostitution. I felt that's all I was worth. I had learned, my body had a price. I was in an abusive relationship when I was 24. He beat me up, and I ran to my father’s house for protection. I was new in his life, since he left when I was little. I wanted him to be the man I could count on, I needed him to be my protector, but instead my father sexually assaulted me. I grew to hate men, I began taking advantage of them. I became a sex addict. As the years went on, my heart grew cold and I knew there must be more to life. At 30, I became a Christian and my life began to change. My heart softened. I learned that my body was sacred, and it was something to be treated with dignity. I learned that Jesus advocated for women like me, and that’s when I made a life changing decision. I decided to become celibate, and love myself as Christ loves me. I wrote letters to my abusers, but never sent them. It was cleansing. It took time to forgive. I knew forgiving them meant they no longer controlled me. Parents, believe your kids when they say someone is hurting or touching them in the wrong way. Be the parent we needed when we were young. I am older now, and NO one gets to use this body without my permission. #TellSomebody
