God Knows and God Cares

Scripture

“And God looked upon the children of Israel, and God acknowledged them.”
Exodus 2:25 (NKJV)

Seen and Known by God

At this point in the story, the Israelites are groaning under Egyptian oppression. They feel the weight of injustice and desperation. Yet in just a few words, we see the heart of God—He looked upon them and acknowledged them.

The Hebrew word for acknowledged here means to know intimately, to recognize, to take notice of. This isn’t a passive awareness; it’s the active compassion of a loving God.

When we are hurting, it can feel like God is far away, but this verse reminds us:

God sees our situation clearly.

God understands our pain deeply.

God’s awareness is the beginning of His action—deliverance is coming.

Reflection Questions

1. Do I believe that God truly sees and understands what I’m going through?

2. How does knowing that God “acknowledges” me change the way I face difficulties?

3. Who in my life needs to be reminded today that God sees and cares for them?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for seeing me and knowing me. Even when I feel unseen by the world, I trust that You are looking upon me with compassion. Help me to rest in the truth that You are not distant, but deeply involved in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
