Worship is Our Freedom
Scripture
“And you shall say to him, ‘The Lord God of the Hebrews has sent me to you, saying, ‘Let My people go, that they may serve Me in the wilderness’; but indeed, until now you would not hear!”
Exodus 7:16 (NKJV)
Set Free to Serve
God’s command to Pharaoh was clear: Let My people go. But notice the purpose—not just freedom, but freedom to serve and worship God. Israel’s deliverance wasn’t about escaping slavery for comfort; it was about entering relationship and obedience to the Lord.
Pharaoh resisted, but God’s plan could not be stopped. This verse reminds us:
Freedom has a purpose. God frees us from sin so we can live for Him, not ourselves (Romans 6:22).
True worship often begins in the wilderness. Israel was to worship God not in a palace, but in the desert. Sometimes God meets us most deeply in barren places.
God’s call demands a response. Pharaoh hardened his heart, but we are called to hear and obey.
Reflection Questions
1. Do I view my freedom in Christ as an opportunity to serve Him or just to live comfortably?
2. How am I using my freedom—both spiritually and practically—for worship?
3. Am I listening to God’s voice, or resisting like Pharaoh?
Prayer
Lord God, thank You for setting me free from sin and death through Jesus Christ. Help me to remember that my freedom is not for myself, but for worship and service to You. Teach me to obey Your call wholeheartedly. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
