The Set Time of the Lord
Scripture
“Then the Lord appointed a set time, saying, ‘Tomorrow the Lord will do this thing in the land.’”
Exodus 9:5 (NKJV)
God’s Appointed Time
In Exodus 9, God is demonstrating His power to Pharaoh through the plagues. Here, He declares that the plague against Egypt’s livestock will take place at a set time—not randomly, not by chance, but at God’s sovereign appointment.
This reminds us that:
God is in full control. The timing of His actions is deliberate and purposeful.
His word is trustworthy. What He says will happen, will happen.
Waiting doesn’t mean forgotten. Sometimes God sets a “tomorrow” for His promises, and we are called to trust Him until that time arrives.
When we feel like God is silent or slow, this verse reassures us that He works on His perfect timetable. He is never early, never late, always on time.
Reflection Questions
1. Am I trusting God’s timing in areas where I want quick results?
2. Do I believe that God has “set times” for the fulfillment of His promises in my life?
3. How can I rest in faith while I wait for God’s appointed moments?
Prayer
Lord God, thank You that You are in control of all things, including time itself. Help me to trust that Your timing is always perfect, even when I don’t understand. Give me patience to wait and faith to believe that what You have promised will surely come to pass. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
