Wake Up Happy
It’s easy to allow your feelings to control your actions. If you wake up tired, grumpy, and just overall sour about life, chances are that everyone you come into contact with is going to wish you would go back to bed and wake up happy. Just one bad attitude can negatively affect everyone who is around you. Some people give energy, while others drain your energy. When someone pouts, makes snarky remarks, or is overbearing and critical, no one really wants to be around them. Most people love to be near others who are cheerful, positive, and will lift them up. Those who choose to be irritable might argue that they have every reason to be in a bad mood because of their personal hardships and difficulties. But no matter what trials or troubles you are experiencing, Paul tells us in 1 Timothy 6:6, “But godliness with contentment is great gain.” Paul should know, as he experienced firsthand what it was like to truly suffer. Second Corinthians 11:23-25 describes his tribulation. He had been flogged, five times he received forty lashes minus one, imprisoned numerous times, beaten with rods, pelted with stones, shipwrecked three times, and spent one and a half days stranded in the open sea. Despite all this suffering, he chose to praise God! Your mood each day... is a choice. Isaiah 26:3 says, “You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.” Whatever you are going through, God can give you the strength you need to face each day . . . so choose to be happy! Surrender your trials, pain, and disappointments to Jesus and allow Him to fill your heart with joy, today and every day. Text: Proverbs 29:11, James 1:2-4, Habakkuk 3:17-18, Psalm 118:24
