Garbage In, Garbage Out
Do you find yourself in a “spiritual rut” with your wheels spinning but you just can’t move forward in your walk with God? If that happens, it’s usually because our hearts are filled with garbage! You know, the garbage of sin, otherwise known as the devil’s tools of discouragement, such as anger, jealousy, resentment, unforgiveness, selfishness, or self-pity. It is all garbage in our hearts weighing us down, and for some crazy reason, we want to hang on to it! It just doesn’t make sense why we have such a hard time letting go of the very things that separate us from God. The old expression “garbage in, garbage out” is so true. If we fill our hearts with resentment and anger, then that is what is going to come out in all our deeds and actions! Pray David’s prayer in Psalm 51:10: “Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” Once we allow God to clean our hearts, there is such an amazing transformation that no words can truly describe - true joy such as we have never known! Text: Hebrews 10:22, Proverbs 20:9, Psalm 24:4, Psalm 51:1-8
