Chapter 43 The False Prophet
Who is the false prophet? This is easy to work out because the Bible tells us who it is:
Rev 19:20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
The false prophet wrought miracles before the beast. It is the beast with lamb-like horns that did this:
Rev 13:14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
Adventists believe the false prophet is the USA when it enforces worship, and in particular worshipping on Sunday. However, we have concluded that the beast with lamb-like horns is an apparition of Christ that Satan will create (chapter 22). The false prophet, therefore, is the appearance of “Christ” on Earth, telling people to worship by means of Catholicism and apostate Protestantism.
Two other passages in Revelation refer to the false prophet:
Rev 16:12 And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared.
13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.
14 For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.
When the populace on Earth become disillusioned in the New World Order, there is a desperate bid to keep them unified. The type used here is at the conquest of Babylon by the Medo-Persians. They dried up the river Euphrates and gained access to the city. Since water represents the masses (people – chapter 20), this shows that at the sixth plague the people are disillusioned. The kings of the east represent God, and the way of the kings of the east is the Second Advent. Even though this alludes to the showdown on Mt Carmel when Elijah was prophet, and the call went out to follow God when He had won the contest, Probation has already closed before the 7 Last Plagues. The lost masses are preparing to battle Christ at the Second Advent. The dragon representing spiritualism (Marianism), the false prophet which is the apparition claiming to be Christ supporting apostate Protestantism, and the beast which is the Papacy, use miracles to try and reunite the masses after their disillusionment. At the Second Advent Christ destroys what remains of the wicked, but after the Millennium, this unfinished battle is set afoot again in an effort to overcome Christ and the saints in the New Jerusalem, but again the armies of Satan will be destroyed, for good this time.
Rev 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
We saw in the Rev 19:20 that the Papacy and the apparition of Christ were thrown into the lake of fire at the Second Advent. This text indicates that Satan the dragon is also thrown into the lake of fire at the end of the Millennium. It seems therefore that the fires of hell are kindled at the Second Advent, and that this fire has burned throughout the Millennium. The Papacy and the apparition of Christ are in this fire from the Second Advent to the end of the Millennium when Satan, his angels, and all the lost will be destroyed by hell-fire. When the fires of hell die out, there will be nothing left of the rebellion of Satan against God and His Son. The Great Controversy will be over at last.
God will finally win this war, and it is a good idea to be a soldier in God’s army. Be on the winning side. Give yourself to God without reservation, so that He can use you in this showdown, and reward you with eternal life. Don’t be deceived by the false prophet but be secure against this deceit by being one of God’s elect. God loves you, so much that He gave His only begotten Son for you.
