I remember my pastor told us, “๐ ๐ฐ๐ถ ๐ฎ๐ถ๐ด๐ต ๐ฌ๐ฏ๐ฐ๐ธ ๐ธ๐ฉ๐ข๐ต ๐บ๐ฐ๐ถ ๐ฃ๐ฆ๐ญ๐ช๐ฆ๐ท๐ฆ.” This line still returns whenever coworkers, friends, or strangers ask about my faith. These moments don’t arrive by appointment. The question is not about if they will come, but about whether we are ready or not—when they do.
These Christians were slandered as “๐ฆ๐ท๐ช๐ญ๐ฅ๐ฐ๐ฆ๐ณ๐ด” (๐ฏ. ๐๐), yet Peter didn’t tell them to hide. He told them to set Christ apart inwardly so they could speak of Him outwardly.
“๐๐ฆ๐ข๐ฅ๐บ ๐ข๐ญ๐ธ๐ข๐บ๐ด” means constantly prepared—not only when it’s convenient. And the tone matters: not pride, but meekness and reverence. Truth spoken with humility disarms hostility. Readiness begins in the heart. When Christ is set apart as Lord within, testimony flows naturally from the lips—steady, sincere, and shaped by reverence, not reaction.
Scripture teaches that witness flows from what rules the heart. The gospel—not our skill—is “๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐ฑ๐ฐ๐ธ๐ฆ๐ณ ๐ฐ๐ง ๐๐ฐ๐ฅ ๐ถ๐ฏ๐ต๐ฐ ๐ด๐ข๐ญ๐ท๐ข๐ต๐ช๐ฐ๐ฏ” (๐๐จ๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ฌ ๐:๐๐). Truth spoken with grace carries eternal weight.
We are called to “๐ด๐ฑ๐ฆ๐ข๐ฌ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐ต๐ณ๐ถ๐ต๐ฉ ๐ช๐ฏ ๐ญ๐ฐ๐ท๐ฆ” (๐๐ฉ๐ก๐๐ฌ๐ข๐๐ง๐ฌ ๐:๐๐), to serve as “๐ข๐ฎ๐ฃ๐ข๐ด๐ด๐ข๐ฅ๐ฐ๐ณ๐ด ๐ง๐ฐ๐ณ ๐๐ฉ๐ณ๐ช๐ด๐ต” (๐ ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ข๐ง๐ญ๐ก๐ข๐๐ง๐ฌ ๐:๐๐), and to walk as His “๐ธ๐ฐ๐ณ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ข๐ฏ๐ด๐ฉ๐ช๐ฑ” (๐๐ฉ๐ก๐๐ฌ๐ข๐๐ง๐ฌ ๐:๐๐). Our words must be “๐ด๐ฆ๐ข๐ด๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ฆ๐ฅ ๐ธ๐ช๐ต๐ฉ ๐ด๐ข๐ญ๐ต” (๐๐จ๐ฅ๐จ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐๐ง๐ฌ ๐:๐), and let our “๐ญ๐ช๐จ๐ฉ๐ต ๐ด๐ฐ ๐ด๐ฉ๐ช๐ฏ๐ฆ ๐ฃ๐ฆ๐ง๐ฐ๐ณ๐ฆ ๐ฎ๐ฆ๐ฏ” (๐๐๐ญ๐ญ๐ก๐๐ฐ ๐:๐๐). Like a lamp on a stand, truth was never meant to be hidden. If faith stays silent, it slowly stiffens.
Just as we wouldn't want to be "๐ค๐ข๐ถ๐จ๐ฉ๐ต ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ต ๐ช๐ฏ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐ค๐ฐ๐ญ๐ฅ" without a coat, we must be clothed in the Truth—"๐ธ๐ฆ ๐ฎ๐ถ๐ด๐ต ๐ฌ๐ฏ๐ฐ๐ธ ๐ธ๐ฉ๐ข๐ต ๐ธ๐ฆ ๐ฃ๐ฆ๐ญ๐ช๐ฆ๐ท๐ฆ.” Our confidence isn't in our intellect, but in the finished work of Jesus Christ, the faithful witness (๐๐๐ฏ๐๐ฅ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐:๐). When Christ is sanctified in the heart, fear loosens its grip, courage finds its voice, and witness becomes obedience, not pressure.
Ready or not, moments will come. If someone asked today why you follow Jesus, would you have a clear answer or only silence? You don’t need a fluent mouth—but you do need a surrendered heart. Are you ready to be the light in someone else's darkness? Let Christ speak through you today.
๐๐ซ๐๐ฒ๐๐ซ: Heavenly Father, sanctify Christ in my heart today. Help me to be ready, bold, and humble whenever I am asked about the hope I have in You. Let my words reflect Your truth and lead others to Your grace. Use my life as a witness for Your glory. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
Remember, a dose of God’s Word a day will keep you going all day!
