𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐨𝐫 𝐍𝐨𝐭? ✍️ “𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘵𝘩 𝘧𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘴 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘧𝘢𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘣𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘴, 𝘖𝘶𝘳 𝘭𝘪𝘱𝘴 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘬 𝘊𝘩𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘏𝘪𝘮.” I remember my pastor told us, “𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘣𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘷𝘦.” This line still returns whenever coworkers, friends, or strangers ask about my faith. These moments don’t arrive by appointment. The question is not about if they will come, but about whether we are ready or not—when they do. Peter instructs believers in 🕮 𝟏 𝐏𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝟑:𝟏𝟓 to “𝘴𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘧𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘓𝘰𝘳𝘥 𝘎𝘰𝘥 𝘪𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘴: 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘣𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘺 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘢𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘸𝘦𝘳…” These Christians were slandered as “𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘳𝘴” (𝐯. 𝟏𝟔), yet Peter didn’t tell them to hide. He told them to set Christ apart inwardly so they could speak of Him outwardly. “𝘙𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘺 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴” means constantly prepared—not only when it’s convenient. And the tone matters: not pride, but meekness and reverence. Truth spoken with humility disarms hostility. Readiness begins in the heart. When Christ is set apart as Lord within, testimony flows naturally from the lips—steady, sincere, and shaped by reverence, not reaction. Scripture teaches that witness flows from what rules the heart. “𝘖𝘶𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘣𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘩 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘵𝘩” (𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐰 𝟏𝟐:𝟑𝟒). The gospel—not our skill—is “𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘎𝘰𝘥 𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘢𝘭𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯” (𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝟏:𝟏𝟔). Truth spoken with grace carries eternal weight. We are called to “𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘬 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘵𝘩 𝘪𝘯 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦” (𝐄𝐩𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝟒:𝟏𝟓), to serve as “𝘢𝘮𝘣𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘢𝘥𝘰𝘳𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘊𝘩𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘵” (𝟐 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝟓:𝟐𝟎), and to walk as His “𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱” (𝐄𝐩𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝟐:𝟏𝟎). Our words must be “𝘴𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘴𝘢𝘭𝘵” (𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝟒:𝟔), and let our “𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘴𝘰 𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘮𝘦𝘯” (𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐰 𝟓:𝟏𝟔). Like a lamp on a stand, truth was never meant to be hidden. If faith stays silent, it slowly stiffens. Just as we wouldn't want to be "𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘥" without a coat, we must be clothed in the Truth—"𝘸𝘦 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘷𝘦.” Our confidence isn't in our intellect, but in the finished work of Jesus Christ, the faithful witness (𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝟏:𝟓). When Christ is sanctified in the heart, fear loosens its grip, courage finds its voice, and witness becomes obedience, not pressure. Ready or not, moments will come. If someone asked today why you follow Jesus, would you have a clear answer or only silence? You don’t need a fluent mouth—but you do need a surrendered heart.
