HOW TO HAVE A SUCCESSFUL PRAYER & FASTING
1. Prepare Your Spirit Before You Start
Don’t jump into fasting suddenly. Spend a few minutes preparing your heart.
Ask God to forgive your sins.
Release anyone who hurt you.
Tell God the purpose of your fast.
Say this: Holy Spirit, help me to fast and pray with strength and focus.
2. Have a Clear Purpose for the Fasting
A fast without purpose becomes hunger strike.
Choose one or two clear goals:
Deliverance
Breakthrough
Healing
Clarity and direction
Spiritual growth
Family restoration
Marriage
Job / finances
Freedom from addiction Open doors
Write it down.
3. Choose the Type of Fasting
Pick the one you can handle:
6am–6pm Fast (Most Common)
No food until 6pm.
Dry Fast (6am–6pm or 6am–3pm)
No food, no water
4. Stay in Prayer Throughout the Fast
Prayer moves the fast.
Without prayer, fasting is empty and powerless.
What to do during the day:
Morning (6am–7am)
Thank God
Read a Psalm
Pray your purpose prayer
Afternoon (12pm)
Read a scripture about your situation

6. Speak Declarations Daily
Your mouth is a weapon during fasting.
Say things like:
“Every closed door must open.”
“I receive direction.”
“My breakthrough will not pass me by.”
“Every delay is broken.”
7. Avoid Distractions
During fasting:
Avoid unnecessary talking.
Avoid anger and arguments.
Avoid gossip
Stay calm and peaceful.
8. Break Your Fast Properly
Do not eat heavy food immediately.
Start with:
Water
Fruit
Tea
Light food
Then eat your normal meal.
9. End the Fast With Thanksgiving
